Russo Fire Provides full service of Standpipe Systems and Fire Hoses.

A Standpipe system allows building occupants or Fire Department personnel to use a fire hose to fight a fire. Standpipe systems are designed to have one of more fire hoses in and are or on a floor, so that no matter where the fire the hose will reach.

To ensure that the Systems functions if ever needed the System and Fire Hoses must be maintained properly. Not only do Fire hoses require re-racking every year, they also require hydrostatic testing 5 years from the manufacturers date, and every 3 years there after.

The purpose of re-racking a hose is so it does not sit on the same fold for a long period of time. This can cause the hose to become brittle at the fold and rupture during use, rendering the hose useless. Some building perform monthly re-racking of Fire Hoses to keep them in peek condition. Annual re-racking allows the service personnel to inspect the hose for any visible signs of damage or wear.

Hydrostatic testing of the fire hose ensures the hose will function properly and withstand the water pressure. Hydrostatic testing of a fire hose is covered under NFPA-1962 as stamped on the hose.
